Cafateria Benefits

A Cafeteria or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) saves you tax dollars. For every dollar that you put into the plan it is exempt from taxes (Federal, State and Social Security) per the IRS. There are three types of qualified expenses:

  • Premiums – your portion of your medical and dental coverage is automatically run through this benefit.
  • Medical Expenses - This is for medical expenses that are not reimbursed by an insurance company, such as co-pays, prescriptions, braces, contact lens, eyeglasses.
  • Dependent Care - This is great for day care expenses. Often the Cafeteria plan provides a larger tax savings than taking the child care credit on the tax return.

Denver Reserve Corporation handles the claims for this benefit. Enrollment for this benefit is done on annual basis. Premiums are withheld bi-weekly.

Additional information regarding FSA benefits can be found in the new hire benefit package.
