Sweepstakes Fraud Information

FRAUD ALERT

Ensign United States Drilling Inc. (“Ensign”) has recently been the target of a fraudulent sweepstakes scam.  Fake checks that appear as though they have been issued by Ensign have been sent to individuals throughout North America, along with letter stating that the recipient of the check will receive large sums of money if they deposit the check and send their own money to the sweepstakes “claims agent.”  DO NOT CASH THE CHECK AND DO NOT SEND THE SWEEPSTAKES AGENT ANY MONEY.  This is a scam and you will not receive any money. 

The FBI, the US Postal Inspector and Federal Trade Commission Consumer Protection division have been notified of this check scam and they are investigating.  If you have received a fake check, please contact the United States Postal Inspector, which has set up a website for such scams:  www.FakeChecks.org, or by calling 1-800-372-8347.  If you lose money on this scam, please call your local FBI or other law enforcement offices.  Also, please save the original envelope and contents as evidence for law enforcement.
